The Albert chain originated as a man’s accessory and was popularised by being worn by Queen Victoria’s husband Prince Albert (1819-1861). Gentlemen wore the chain draped across the front of their waistcoat, attached by a T.Bar threaded through the central button hole, and with a Vesta case, seal, pipe tamper etc. at either end, held by the swivel clasp. This Victorian Style ‘Gothic’ link chain, is inspired by the Gothic Architectural Renaissance happening throughout much design of the period.
